The purpose of our Ministry Link is to implement the mission, vision, and values of the congregation as set forth by the Administrative Board through the development and oversight of ministries that reflect the same. Some examples of our ministries are: Called to Care, Environmental Team, Men’s Group, and Women Who Wine (or not.)
The Called to Care Ministry meets on the first Wednesday of the month to determine who in the congregation needs special attention. Some of their services include sending cards, making phone calls, distributing prayer shawls, and organizing a food pantry.
The Environmental Team meets on the fourth Saturday of the month in Friendship Hall. Their main task is to introduce church members and others to an understanding of our connection to the natural world and to all Earth’s physical and biological systems. They initiate projects in order to strive towards these ends. “For us, there is no Planet B.”
All men are welcome to join others in informal gatherings where participants engage in discussions that might range from religious and spiritual, to favorite music or movie performers. Gatherings are held on the first Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM at Gracian’s Grill. (Gracian’s is located at 860 Tehachapi Boulevard, just west of the intersection with Dennison.)
Women Who Wine (or not) meets on the third Sunday of the month, right after church. They often meet at local restaurants, wineries, or sometimes in member’s homes. It’s a wonderful opportunity to socialize with other women. Even those not part of our congregation are welcome to attend.
The fourth Sunday of each month is ‘Potluck Sunday’ right after church in Friendship Hall. It’s a chance to share a meal and get to know others in the church.
Each year during the holidays, TCC joins with the Salvation Army to help the less fortunate members of the Tehachapi community by donating money for two services: Thanksgiving meals and Angel Tag gifts for Christmas.
Another project we support is the VA’s D.E.F.T (Don’t Ever Forget Them.) TCC volunteers gather to write holiday greetings to military veterans. The Veteran’s Administration collects and distributes these cards during the holidays to distribute to nursing facilities nationwide.
TCC appreciates our partnership with Bakersfield’s Path Point program for disabled adults. Their twice-monthly cleaning of our sanctuary provides them with opportunities to develop work and socialization skills, and in return we enjoy a sparkling worship space.
