Message from Pastor Nancy: Greetings Friends!
I hope this note finds you all well.
This coming Sunday (April 5th,) we will safely gather in our cars and remain in our cars for a drive through palm procession followed by prayers and communion back at the church. On Sunday, we will set up by 10:20 for people to drive through and receive palms for you to wave from your cars. Nick Smirnoff is helping to set this up. THANKS Nick! The church and buildings will remained closed, so please remain in your cars. Lavatories will not be available, but the service will be very short.
After receiving your palm, turn right into the alley and then another right onto Green Street, where we will wait for everyone. Steve will drive our car and lead the driving procession to Curry and then to Tehachapi Boulevard. We will drive slowly down the street waving our palms, then turn right onto Robinson Street, just past the Chevron station, then turning right onto F Street, back to Green St, where we will turn left and head back to the church. Please park near the corner of E and Green where the church is located and try to position your car to be able to see the church steps. (Previously, we had hope to go to the KMart parking lot, but the plan has changed.) Stay in your cars and I will lead us in prayers and collective communion from the top of the church steps.
Please bring with you:
– your phone, and the conference call number 866-398-9973, with the passcode 754746#, so that we can hear one another
– individual servings of bread/crackers and juice for you to participate in communion
FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT WISH TO BE IN THE DRIVING PARADE: Please simply join the conference call from your home for a brief communion and prayers with us. Have your bread and juice ready and call at 10:50 instead of 10:30.
During Holy Week we will try some gatherings on Zoom. PLEASE download Zoom to your computer, so that you can join in. We might use Zoom video on computer and Zoom conference call combo for Easter, so please download Zoom in advance. I hope we can do a trial on Good Friday to make sure it’s working for everyone. On Easter, please wear your favorite Easter bonnet with whatever else you like…bathrobes are fine, we’ll only see your heads. 🙂 Check out our Tehachapi UCC FaceBook page for photos of Easter dresses for this year… I hope we’ll get a chance to see many of you in your Easter bonnets and others will call in to join us. You may also send pictures of yourselves for us to post on FaceBook.
Stay home as much as possible and stay healthy.
Last summer, Pastor Nancy took a well-deserved Sabbatical.
In her absence, guest speakers filled the pulpit each Sunday, including some of our own members. Below are a few pictures from those Sundays…
Progressive theology is shared in a moving, joyful and friendly worship experience. Each service includes a Children’s Message, hymn singing, a variety of musical selections, and inspirational readings from many sources.
Open Communion is normally served on the first Sunday of every month. Also, on the fourth Sunday of every month we share a potluck luncheon, to which everyone is invited. Please join us even if you have not brought a food dish to share – there is always more than enough for everyone!

An elevator chair at the south door provides Disability Access to our sanctuary.
The nursery for children ages birth through 4-years old is available upon request in the church basement (just below the Sanctuary.) Call the Church Office at (661) 822-4443, if you would like to make use of the nursery on Sunday. Parents are also welcome to take their children there during church service, if necessary. Plans are to install an audio feed, so that anyone in the basement will still be able to hear what’s going on in the Sanctuary. A Children’s Message is provided in the worship service each week. After the Children’s Message, Sunday School is provided for all children ages 3 through Grade 7.
